About me

Coach. Patient advocate. Former HR leader. Most importantly, a person who knows that life rarely follows a perfectly straight line.

I spent more than 15 years working in HR, including at senior management level. My career gave me the opportunity to work closely with people at different stages of their working lives navigating careers, leadership, difficult decisions, organisational change and the complexity that comes with working alongside other human beings.

However some of the experiences that have shaped me most happened outside work.

I have been living with type 1 diabetes, which is a chronic autoimmune condition, since childhood. I spent many years struggling to accept the condition would be a daily part of my life. I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in 2013 and received a kidney transplant in 2018. My health experiences has shaped me as an individual and one of the biggest takeaways from my journey so far is that the power was and is within me to make any change that I want to. These experiences have also changed my relationship with uncertainty, ambition, resilience and what it means to make decisions when you cannot control every variable.

They also led me into patient advocacy. Today, I work with healthcare and research organisations to help ensure that people with lived experience are not simply consulted but meaningfully involved in the decisions that affect them.

Where does the name Trueheart come from?
In January 2024 I unexpectedly lost my Dad. Through this process I discovered that his birth surname was Trueheart and with that I wanted to pay homage to him. I also feel that within the word Trueheart there’s a link to the self. If I break it down True ignites thoughts of authenticity, integrity and reliability. Heart ignites thoughts of compassion, emotional intelligence and care. For me, this aligns with the values that I believe in and how I want to carry out my work.
